One Layer Happy Watercolor

One layer cards is the new challenge, this week, at SUO Challenges. I love the challenge of a one layer card! Normally I like to add embellishments and a few layers, so a one layer card for me is truly challenging. I tried to add depth to this card using color.

Watercolor thankyou 1

I started by stamping the flower with StazOn ink onto Naturals White card stock. I created a mask with a Post-it Note, by tearing a rectangle out of the center. (It's not really necessary to create the rectangle mask, but I didn't like the little knobby part of the image repeating itself.) I made another mask of the flower. I stamped the watercolor image with Coastal Cabana several times inside the mask. After removing the mask, I stamped the dotted image along the left side, also in Coastal Cabana.

I colored in the flower with Tangerine Tango and my Aquapainter, and the flower stem and center with a Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write marker. With this being a one layer card, I wanted to add a little dimension using color. I used a Blender Pen and my Smoky Slate ink pad to add a little shadow to the flower and stem. Then I used my White Chalk marker to add some highlights.
