A few snips and some pop!

Today, on Halloween day, I'm sharing a red, white, and glimmery Christmas card over at Pink Paper Bakery! Is that wrong?! I'm sort of already over Halloween, but I am looking forward to all the little cuties that will be stopping by for candy, this evening!

I made a warm snowflake card, to celebrate that it's not too cold outside, yet! While making this card, I was feeling like my snowflake was flat, and so I decided my snowflake needed dimension. I could have done the scoring and folding thing, that is popular right now, and I'm sure it would have been pretty. Instead I did a little snowflake carving.

Festive Flurry stampin up 10

snowflake framelits

I used the smallest of the Festive Flurry framelits and made some snips, as shown in the photo above. I added pieces of Stampin' Dimensionals to the back side of the parts that are sticking up, and a glue dot to the center. When I put this on top of my, already stamped, Real Red snowflake, I only gave a push to the center, and it popped up a little more! Love the dimension!

snowflake closeup

I finished off the snowflake by stamping the smallest of the snowflakes on a piece of Whisper White card stock, and cutting out the center. I double stacked Dimensionals under the star and added it to the center of the snowflake. Then I blinged it up with rhinestones!

Mixed media magnet

I used to dabble in painting. Yesterday I was missing my paint brushes, so I dusted off my box of painting supplies and played!

handmade gift stampin up

I love using my Stampin' Up! stamps in my painting projects. This little 2 1/2" x 4" piece of art ended up a refrigerator magnet. I started with a piece of watercolor paper, a little larger than the finished size, and drew a 2 1/2" x 4" rectangle on it. I started with a wash of blue, adding darker tones to the border. Then I stamped this cute image with StazOn ink onto a piece of white tissue paper. I glued it onto the watercolor paper with a gel medium. I colored in the image with markers, splattered some ink on, and then added a little bit of lace tape. Next I trimmed it to size, and adhered it to a piece of heavy chip board with the gel medium. Then added one more coat of gel medium to the top. I rubbed my black StazOn ink pad over the sides and also scuffed up the front with it. My gel medium has a mat finish, and I wanted the finish to be glossy, but not take a long time to dry. I used my Versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder to give me that look! Last, I flipped it over and added a business card size magnet to the back.

I think it turned out pretty cute!  I had so much mixing my love of Stampin' Up! supplies with a few of my older art supplies from my closet.

Fabulous Florets

I had a clean and simple fall flower card in mind, when I sat down to create. I'm not sure I got the fall or simple parts down, but I did good on the clean!

Fabulous Florets stampin up

Although it's difficult to see here, I added a little shading to the flower. I started by stamping my image with Pumpkin Pie. Then I used a Blender Pen with Tangerine Tango ink and shaded in the centers of the petals.

Bucket of apples

It's Fall, Autumn, harvest time! It's time for another challenge at SUO Challenges, and Harvest Time is the theme! This card I'm sharing with you, today, is my SUO Challenges design team entry! Won't you join us?

I made a bucket of apples using the Cupcake Builder punch! I added a little wheat in the background with an image from Wetlands. This card makes me want to go apple picking! I don't know what I would do with a whole bucket of apples, since the men in my life (husband and son) don't eat apples very often; and they dislike apple pie! Weirdos! I still love them to pieces ☺.

Create a cupcake apples 2

I used the Cupcake Builder punch to make this cute bucket (or barrel, or whatever that cute thing is called!) of apples! To make the bucket I punched the cupcake out of Crumb Cake card stock. Then I used a ruler and mechanical pencil to divide the boards. The easiest way to do this is to use a clear ruler, and draw the center line. Then I made tiny tick marks to divide each half into thirds, and used the ruler to finish the lines. I used a Post-it note to mask along the left of each line (one at a time), starting with the far right board. Then I inked up a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake ink, and made one or two quick swipes along the edge of the Post-it. Then I repeated this process with each line (board). For the horizontal boards, I hand cut a couple of card stock pieces and sponged them, before adhering to the barrel.

To make the apples, I punched the cherry from Real Red card stock. I colored in the stems with Soft Suede ink, and then trimmed them at an angle. I cut a tiny (SUPER tiny) divot out of the bottom of the apples. I only did this to the three that actually show their bottoms.

    • Crumb Cake and Soft Suede

Chilled out Halloween

Even though Halloween is my favorite holiday, I'm not really into the creepiness this year! I'm feeling a little subdued. Perhaps it was the 20 cloudy days we had in a row, here in North Carolina! Maybe I'll break out my spider necklace, today, and wear it around town to try to get more into the Halloween spirit. Last night, while relaxing in my stamp room, I came up with this, fall feeling, Halloween card.

Fall Gift

I was in the baking mood today, which is fabulous because I haven't been in a baking mood in quite a long time. I decided to go with it and found a fabulous recipe for pumpkin spice cookies.  Even though I like to bake, I don't like to eat all the goods. Well I do, but I'm usually not so happy about it later. So, I decided to give some away!

I had to have cute packaging for my delicious cookies! Magnificent Maple is my go to Fall stamp, so I used it to make a card and a matching d├ęcor for my little brown bag.

Fall Gift Idea 1

You must try this cookie recipe! They are amazing! I did add 1/2 tsp more vanilla and 1/2 tbsp. more butter to the icing to give it more flavor. Other than that, I followed the recipe.

Magnificent Maple

I used the thumping technique on the leaves. I recently used it on a snowflake card and was very happy with the outcome, so I thought I'd try it again here. I inked the stamp up with Crushed Curry ink. Then I used Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze Stampin' Write Markers to add additional color by thumping the side of the brush tip against the stamp. I cut out the leaf and sponged the edges in Soft Suede.

The Soft Suede splotches are from Gorgeous Grunge. I also added a few sequins, which were silver, until I colored them with Sharpies. I thought the sequins added a little shimmer without being as formal as rhinestones.

Ornament Keepsakes, still available!

Ornament Keepsakes is a beautiful stamp set from last year's Holiday Mini catalog. Even though it is not shown in the current mini, both the stamp set and the coordinating framelits are still available!

I needed to make a card to share on Pink Paper Bakery today. Jen (fellow baker) popped by my house to borrow a few things. Among those thing were my ornament framelits. A couple hours later, wouldn't you know I couldn't get the coordinating stamp set out of my head! When I'm feeling creative, I just have to go with it, so I hand cut these babies out. It wasn't too bad, since I secretly like doing that anyway, but don't look to closely!

Another Snow Day!

Isn't this a fun card?! I LOVE the polka dots in this Designer Series Paper! It looks like the snow is really coming down!

Snow Day Stampin Up 2

I am really liking this set, even though it's tough to get a bright white snowman because of the image design (or maybe I just need to reink my Whisper White craft pad, haha!). I have found that Smoky Slate, Sahara Sand, and even Crumb Cake make great snowmen if you stamp the ink off once or twice first. This snowman is stamped in Crumb Cake, and stamped off twice.

Stampin' Supplies:

  • Stamp set: Snow Day (131892 wood/ 131895 clear)

  • Paper:

    • Bermuda Bay card stock (131197) - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

    • Whisper White card stock (100730) - 2" x 4" (then tear to desired size), plus extra for snowman and pieces

    • Season of Style Designer Series Paper (132340) - 4" x 5 1/4"

  • Ink: Bermuda Bay (131171), Crumb Cake (126975), Soft Suede (126978), and Pumpkin Pie (126945)

  • Accessories:

    • Linen Thread (104199)

(Ampersand) Hello, Lovely!

I don't get the popularity of the ampersand sign (&). I really don't! I see it everywhere! I guess I'm not the trend setter type, in fact sometimes I'm a little late to the show. The Hello, Lovely stamp set has a good size ampersand image in the set. I figured what-the-heck, just throw it in like everyone else does!  LOL

Mixed Bunch Christmas

I love snowflakes, I really do! Not the cold kind though! The stamp set Mixed Bunch has this fabulous, delicately detailed, image that reminds me of a snowflake. I used the three colors, and the thumping technique, to help highlight the snowflake against the color block background. Doesn't it look cool?

Mixed Bunch Stampin Up Christmas

Do you know what else is cool? Create with Connie and Mary's Winter Collection! Today Mary is offering a free tutorial, and blog candy! So, you should definitely hop on over to the Create with Connie and Mary blog, check out the coolness of Mary's gift card tutorials, sign up for some blog candy, and check out the early bird special for Create with Connie and Mary's Winter Collection (where I am a guest designer!!!)!

Okay, back to this fun snowflake! To get this look (please keep in mind that it will be different every time you do it), ink up the stamp in Coastal Cabana, then stamp it off onto a piece of scratch paper. Use Bermuda Bay and Midnight Muse (I thought I was using Island Indigo, until I went to put my markers away) Stampin' Write Markers to add additional color, using the thumping technique. Use the brush side of the marker, and hold the marker nearly side ways. Lightly hit the side (not the tip, you will damage it!) of the marker nib repeatedly all over the stamp. It will require more hits than you think (well at least for me). Work light to dark so you don't discolor your light markers.

Stampin' Supplies:

  • Stamps: Mixed Bunch and Greetings of the Season

  • Paper:

    • Island Indigo card stock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2

    • Whisper White card stock - 4" x 5 1/4" and 1 1/2" x 4 1/2"

    • Bermuda Bay card stock - 1 1/4" x 3 3/4"

    • Coastal Cabana card stock - 1 1/4" x 3 3/4"

    • Soft Sky card stock - 1 1/4" x 3 3/4"

  • Ink:

    • Island Indigo, and Coastal Cabana ink pads

    • Bermuda Bay and Midnight Muse Stampin' Write Markers

  • Tools and Accessories

    • Blossom punch

    • Rhinestone Basic Jewels

A color challenge!

Getting back in to the groove sometimes requires inspiration. Create with Connie and Mary are currently running a color challenge, so I decided to take the challenge!  I would have never put together  this color combo, so it was definitely a challenge for me! I think I did a pretty good job tackling it.

Happy Hour Stampin Up 1

CCMC272

This card features the Happy Hour stamp set. I used my Stampin' Write Markers to ink up each of the drinks, stamped them onto Whisper White card stock, and hand cut them out. *Tip: When inking up a stamp with markers, start with the lightest color first. For thin areas, such as the outline of the glass, use the thin side of the marker.

Happy Hour Stampin Up 2

I popped my drinks up with Stampin' Dimensionals, and garnished them with pretties!

Stampin' Supplies:

  • Stamps: Happy Hour (132013 wood/ 126642 clear)

    • Bermuda Bay card stock (131197) - 2" x 5 1/2"
