Birthday Cake for my love!

Today is my husband's birthday! It's also Pink Paper Bakery share day! Even though I haven't been feeling the greatest, I had to go upstairs to my stamp room and make him a birthday card. I've been on the tired side, so something quick was definitely in order.

The birthday cake stamp is a little on the fancy side (in my opinion), so I tried to bring it over to the party side by adding some fun colored circles. My fellow baker, Jen, made a card last week, using these colors (and this stamp!). I think it turned out pretty cool, so instead of looking for my own color combo, I just grabbed hers! I really wanted to add some bling (really bad!), but my husband isn't really into that. So instead, I went with a simple little Daffodil heart from the Owl Builder punch.

Stampin' Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets: Birthday Cake (130390 wood only), Teeny Tiny Wishes (128748 wood/ 127802 clear)

Sweetest Gift

Hi Friends! I'm on the mend, and I was finally able to make it up to my craft room for a little creating! Today I'm sharing a card I made for the SUO Challenges design team. This challenge is a baby theme. Come join us!

baby card.

I used the Sweetest Gift stamp set and I am Me Designer Series paper to make this baby boy card. First I started with a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of  Whisper White card stock, and created a cloud background using Soft Sky ink, a sponge dauber, and a punched scrap of paper of the icing from the Cupcake Builder punch. Starting at the top of the Whisper White card stock, I set down the icing scrap paper down and sponged the top side of it. Then I moved the scrap and sponged again. Always only sponging above the top part of the icing (not around the entire piece), and then gradually moving the scrap down, and repeating. I then punched a 2 1/2" circle out with my circle punch and sponged around the edges with Soft Sky.

Because the stork is a sold image, and I wanted the stork to be white (or light), I used my Smoky Slate and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Markers. I inked up the stork with the markers, then stamped it off on my Grid Paper. Then I reinked only the Pumpin Pie parts, and remoistened the stamp by huffing on it (warm breath), and stamped onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. I then used a blender pen and a very light amount of Basic Gray ink and highlighted parts of the stork. Last I added a Basic Gray dot on the eye, and then hand cut it out.

I realize these instructions maybe confusing for you beginners! I will make a video for this one and put it up within a week.

Festive Flurry Wreath

Today starts a new challenge over at SUO Challenges. This round features 'your favorite technique'. I love paper piercing! It's amazing how much a simple pierced pattern can add to a card! What is your favorite technique? Hop on over to SUO Challenges and show us!

I'm going to take a quick sidestep to let you know that I'm still not stamping (this is a pre-scheduled post). Just yesterday, I had a little surgery, so now I'm on my way to recovery! Unfortunately my recovery involves a lot of rest for a couple of weeks. You can bet that as soon as I can walk up my stairs, that I will be up in my craft room stamping away! I hope to be sharing samples with you again, daily, very soon!

Back to my challenge card!:

Festive-Flurry-Stampin-Up wreath 2

Have I told you that I'm in love with these Festive Flurry snowflakes? They make a perfect ornamental wreath! This card is super simple to make and put together. First I stamped the larger snowflake image in Wild Wasabi, and the smaller snowflake in Pistachio Pudding. I ran both images through the Big Shot with their coordinating Framelit. I then centered my 1 1/16" circle Framelit (from the Circles Collection) over one of the snowflakes and ran it through the Big Shot, and repeated with the second. I stacked the snowflakes, adhering them together with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Festive-Flurry-Stampin-up-wreath 1

For the paper piercing, I used the largest circle from the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack templates. I centered it on my Whisper White card stock and poked away! Before adhering the wreath, I wrapped a piece of 1/8" Silver ribbon to the underside of the wreath, and secured it with a glue dot. Then I glued down the wreath, and wrapped the other end of the ribbon around the backside of the Whisper White card stock. I tied a bow with a separate piece of ribbon and attached it with a glue dot. The sentiment is from a carry over set, Greetings of the Season.

In a Flurry

Hi friends! I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! My daughter came home for a couple days (*big grin*), so that really made my weekend. Unfortunately, during our lovely family time, I ended up at the ER with some not-so-fun pain. I'm doing well, but on doctor's orders will have to be taking it easy for a while. My wonderful husband has offered to move all of my stamp stuff downstairs for me. I'm not sure he knows what he would be getting himself into, LOL! I have declined his offer as of right now (I'm pretty sure I can change my mind any time!); simply because I like to work in a functioning environment, and I'm not so sure a pile of unorganized stuff is going to be very functional or relaxing. With that being said, I will try to share some stuff with you, but it probably won't be daily. You do have the option of email updates, though! Subscribe via email, and you won't miss a post!

I made this card last week, and I'm just getting around to sharing it with you. It's kind of a warm country Christmas card, with fabulous torn Washi, and Linen Thread.
