Up, Up & Away Birthday

Quick Note: Today is my day to share my creation at Pink Paper Bakery! I love sharing this blog with my downline (aka my Friends Ferubber); go check it out, for a variety of ideas!

Clouds are awesome! Growing up in sunny San Diego, you don't get to see too many of those. I guess the clear blue skies aren't anything to complain about! Now that I live in North Carolina, I get to admire clouds often, even on sunny days!

I am totally enjoying the Cloudy Day embossing folder! I used it several times with the Ronald McDonald House charity stamp set, Moving Forward, and it's also perfect for Up, Up & Away; the stamp set I used here.

Up, Up & Away is a hot air balloon set, that I altered to look like party balloons. I used the matching Stampin' Write Markers to draw a little triangle at the bottom of the hot air balloon image, before cutting it out.

Next I adhered the Whisper White Baker's Twine onto the backside of the balloons, and placed the balloons on the card stock with Dimensionals. I secured the Baker's Twine with one glue dot, and tied a bow with a seperate piece and adhered it right on top with another glue dot.

Patterned Occasions Baby

Patterned Occasions stamp set, from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, is irresistibly cute! This elephant stamp has the sentiment "Thanks a ton" on it, but I loved the sentiment from the other Sale-A-Bration set, Bloomin' Marvelous. The image, sentiment, and Honeycomb embossing folder, come together to make a nice baby card! The new Honeycomb embossing folder, from the Spring Mini catalog, makes me think of baby blocks.

This card was one of the make-and-takes at my new catalog Open House!

Not So Vintage, Vintage Verses

Vintage Verses is a great Sale-A-Bration stamp set. I'm not convinced it has to be used for vintage-style cards, which is good, right? I absolutely LOVE this sentiment. It is sweet, so you can give it to a kind-hearted person, or you can give it to someone who is not so nice. This sentiment has an underlying message in my opinion, and therefore I think that makes this sentiment awesome! I guess that means you wouldn't even have to give this as a birthday card. It's a special occasion card ;)

The Designer Series Paper is also a Sale-A-Bration item! Sycamore Street is fun paper, with bright colors. These dots make me think of confetti. I used the new Ovals Collection framelits, from the new Spring Mini catalog, to make the sentiment the focal point.

This is one of the cards we will be making in my upcoming birthday card class, on February 10. Join us for some fun! Besides the fun, it is kind of nice to have birthday cards on hand; especially the hand made kind!

I added silver mini brads, and then popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

 Materials:
  • Stamp Set: Vintage Verses (129633 wood/ 129636)
  • Paper:
    • Whisper White card stock (100730) - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"; 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
    • Tangerine Tango card stock (111349) - 1/2" x 5 1/2"
    • Sycamore Street DSP (127540) - 1 3/4" x 5 1/2"
    • Island Indigo card stock (122923) - 3" x 4"
  • Ink: Island Indigo (126986)
  • Accessories: 1/8" Mini Brads Silver (122941); Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
  • Tools:
    • Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439)
    • Ovals Collection framelits (129381)

Feeling Sentimental

When I first saw this stamp set in the Sale-A-Bration catalog, I thought to myself, cute set...what in the world would I do with it. I had the chance to borrow it from my girl, Jen, and now I have to have it for myself! Luckily it's FREE with a $50 order! I love free! (Check out the Sale-A-Bration promo details.)

I love how this stamp set can totally pass as a masculine or feminine set! Most guys are simple; they like things to the point...just like this birthday card, clean and simple!

I added some scoring (1/4" from the edge on all sides) and roughed up the edges, with the blade of my paper snips, to give it a little more interest. It's a bit difficult to see; it stands out much more in person. I love the new Stampin' Trimmer's scoring blade! It makes a nice score line without cutting through the card stock. I no longer need to pull out my stylus for scoring!

I love the look of a double mat in the same color, in this case Very Vanilla. When using Stampin' Dimensionals between the two layers, it really gives it a nice look.

 Materials:
  • Stamp Set: Feeling Sentimental (129627 wood/ 129630 clear)
  • Paper:
    • Early Espresso card stock (119686) 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
    • Very Vanilla card stock (101650) 1pc 4" x 5 1/4"; 1pc 3 3/4" x 5"; 1pc 1 1/8" x 3"
  • Ink: Riding Hood Red (126968), Early Espresso (126974)
  • Tools and Accessories
    • Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
    • Stampin' Trimmer (126889)
    • Paper Snips (103579)

Irrelevant Story Time: My daughter calls and texts me every day, multiple times. I absolutely love that she does this, because I miss her terribly now that she is grown up and moved out. Don't get me wrong, I don't want her to move back in! If she moved next door, that would be okay. She has a crazy funny personality, and crazy funny bed head to go with it! Yesterday morning I received this text and pic from her:

DD: It's crazy curls Sunday! Morning!

She makes me laugh out loud! It was a great way to start off the day!

In case you are wondering, I did get permission to post her crazy hair pic, but I promised to post a nice hair pic too.

Oh, Hello!

Oh, Hello! I made a clean and simple card for you today. I'm loving the Feeling Sentimental stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, and Oh, Hello, from the Spring Mini Catalog coordinates perfectly with this old fashioned phone booth. I love to mix old and new, so I brought in this Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper from Tea for Two DSP, and matching ruffled ribbon to brighten things up!

The top layer is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. To stamp the HELLO only, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and masked the "Oh" with a post it note. You could also use a marker and color the HELLO only. I still recommend the Stamp-a-ma-jig; especially if you are a perfectionist.

Materials:
  • Stamps: Feeling Sentimental (129627 wood/ 129630 clear) and Oh, Hello (130730 wood/ 130733 clear)
  • Paper:
    • Very Vanilla card stock (101650) - 4 1/4 x 11 and 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"
    • First Edition Designer Series Paper (121878) - 2 3/4" x 5 1/2"
    • Tea for Two Designer Series Paper (129311) - 1 1/2" x 4 1/4"
  • Ink: Basic Black (126980) and Calypso Coral (126983)
  • Embellishments: Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon (122976), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)

Irrelevant story time: My daughter called me today and told me that she and her boyfriend are now the proud parents of a snake! She wanted a dog, but they aren't quite ready for one. She went to the pet store thinking she was going to buy a fish, and ended up with a Ball Python. Who does that?!...my silly girl. She should have just come home and went pet shopping here. We have four pets (2 cats, 2 dogs), and although I love them, I would have been happy to lend one out! Especially the one who toots in my stamp room every night!

Vintage Versus

Vintage style cards are the rage right now, and Vintage Verses, from the Sale-a-Bration catalog is a sentiment stamp set that will go with any vintage looking stamp sets, or it looks great on its own! The bonus is, this stamp set is FREE with a minimum of $50 order!

This patterned paper is from Print Poetry (New Spring Mini catalog). This is one of my favorite patterns from the 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper stack. I love that this paper stack is full of masculine and feminine prints.

I stamped the sentiment with Early Espresso onto Very Vanilla card stock, and then I centered it in a framelit from the Labels Collection and ran it through the Big Shot. I LOVE these framelits!

I finished off the card with 1/8" Espresso Taffeta ribbon and a button from the Designer Neutrals Collection.
A few Stampin' Dimensionals help to make the sentiment the focal point.
Ingredients:
  • Stamps: Vintage Verses (129633 wood/ 129636 clear)

Sale-A-Bration is Bloomin' Marvelous!

It's here! Woot woot! After all the Sale-A-Bration sneak peeks, it is finally your turn to enjoy some of these products! Cute stamp sets, Designer Series Paper, ribbon and buttons, and digital content (it is not necessary to purchase My Digital Studio 2 to use the digital content)! With each $50 order you can choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration product.

View samples from the Sale-A-Bration and new Mini Catalogs.

I really love the sentiments from the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set. This one is my fave! It reminds me of my sisters, whom I just got back from visiting. I love that we are so close that we talk every day, even if it's just for a few minutes. Sisters are the best!! Now I just have to find a way to get them to move to North Carolina!

I cut out, by hand, and popped up these flowers and butterfly. The new butterfly punch is on my wish list, so I won't be cutting out small butterflies for long!

To get the darker butterfly body, I inked up the stamp with my Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write marker, then stamped it onto scrap paper. Then used the marker again to only ink up the body. I remoistened the imaged with my warm breath, before stamping the image again.

Materials:
  • Stamp Set: Bloomin' Marvelous (129651 wood/ 129654 clear)

    • Pooly Party card stock (122924) - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Moving Forward Friend

Okay, so my short term memory isn't so hot! If you read yesterday's post, I'm promised you a card using Moving Forward and the Cloudy Day embossing folder. I guess I didn't use that cute folder on this card, but maybe I should have!

I saw this layout on Pinterest, and really liked it, so I CASEd it.

Scoring is a texture that I often don't think of! These three lines are 1/4" apart, and 1/4" from the bottom.

So, I have a confession! I made this card before I went out of town, and took a photo with the intention of posting it. Not thinking to bring the card with me so I could give you measurements! I'll be returning soon, so I promise to post the measurements when I get home.

Materials:
  • Stamp Set: Moving Forward (126320 wood/ 126322 clear)
  • Paper:
    • Basic Gray card stock - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
    • Tempting Turquoise card stock - 4" x 5 1/2"
    • Pumpkin Pie card stock
    • Whisper White card stock
  • Ink: Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, and Tempting Turquoise Stampin' Write Markers
  • Embellishments: Brights Designer Buttons, Whisper White Baker's Twine
