Everything Eleanor Snowflake

I was up last night, playing with My Digital Studio, when I heard a chime from my inbox. I clicked over and saw a color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary, and I went to bed dreaming of it. Ahhh, I LOVE sweet stamping dreams!
When I woke up this morning, I had to take care of the family first (I love them, but sometimes they cramp my style, LOL!), then I went up to my stamp room and created this.

2012 Create Thursday-008

UPDATE: My card was chosen as one of the top 3 picks!

First of all, I LOVE the Glimmer paper, so I was so excited that it was part of the color challenge! Second, I never think to use Wisteria Wonder (because my card stock is alphabetized in a file drawer and I guess I rarely get back that far ☺), so I was happy to dig it out and put it to use.

In case you were wondering, I did stamp the main element on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it out by hand. I thought this would be easier than masking or logistically placing the stamps. I altered the medium size snow flake by snipping triangles out between the 'branches' (I don't know what else to call them!). I like the elongated look rather than having a circle in the middle. I messed up one of the glimmer snowflakes when I cranked it through the Big Shot, so I decided to cut off a few of the ends and embellish my card with them.

  • Stamp Sets: Everything Eleanor (124162 wood/ 124164 clear) and Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370 wood/ 127802 clear)

Bells & Boughs

Bells & Boughs is a stamp set that I have had for a while, and it always seems to get pushed aside for new Christmas sets. I was feeling in a nostalgic mood, so last night I decided to go with it.

The Paper Players have a sketch challenge, so I thought it would make a good starting point.

I used an old blender pen with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to give the bells some shine, and a Sharpie to color my pearls. Make sure to color them before you put them on your project!

I sponged my edges with Soft Suede ink, and used the Spritzer Tool with a Suede marker for the splatter marks. If I had to do it all again, I would do the sponging before I embossed the background and put the card together. Then add a little extra if needed.

Ingredients:

  • Stamp Set: Bells & Boughs (120831 wood/ 121142 clear)
  • Paper:
    • Old Olive card stock (100702) - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
    • More Mustard card stock (100946) - 4" x 5 1/4"
    • Very Vanilla card stock (101650) - 2 1/2" x 5 1/4", and 3/4" strip
    • Rose Red card stock (102544) - for Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border
  • Ink:
    • Old Olive (126953), Rose Red (126954), More Mustard (126964), Black Staz-on, and Soft Suede (126978) ink pads
    • Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker, Fuchsia Sharpie
    • Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (116806)
  • Tools & Accessories

Everything Eleanor Snow Swirled Christmas

I've been wanting to match up Everything Eleanor with Snow Swirled for a few weeks. When I saw a card made by Amy O'Neill with this layout, I knew it was perfect for these two sets! I just love this sentiment from Snow Swirled, and it fits perfectly inside this Baja Breeze element from Everything Eleanor.

I popped up the Baja Breeze image, as well as the flower and bird. This card wouldn't be complete without adding some bling to the snowflakes, to match the Silver Glimmer paper!

My Gingerbread House

My gingerbread decorations have nothing to do with paper crafting, but I wanted to share them with you, because you are crafty, and many of the things are homemade! I love that my family and I created many of these decorations together, and that we get to enjoy them year after year!

These hard candy lights are made using clear sandwich clam shell containers, bowls, and cellophane.

Cotton candy is quilting batting, spray painted pink, then hot glued around a PVC pipe. I used Staz-on cleaner to take off the printing on the pipe. The pipe slips over a garden stake to hold it in the ground.

I love this No Licking sign! I printed letters from Word, rubbed pencil on the backside of the paper, then placed them and traced over the front of the letter to transfer the outline of each letter onto the board. Then I hand painted the letters. My husband took care of the hardware part, screwing on to a post we already had.

My wreath bow is sad, and needs to be replaced! I made each of these gumdrops from little Styrofoam balls, squeezing them and flattening the tops until they looked like gumdrops. Then each of them were painted and glittered!

Plywood, and a handy husband! I used a projector to blow up an image onto a piece of plywood. My wonderful husband cut it out and drilled holes around the perimeter to pop lights through. I added the paint. (I always get to do the fun part!) I almost forgot the lollipops! Super simple Styrofoam circles!

Gumdrop walkway made by painting pots, and glittering them, followed by a couple clear coats.

All the decorations came together so well, to create my gingerbread house! Here are some more night time photos.

I hope sharing my handmade decor with you, gives you some inspiration to make some of your own holiday decor!
